Medicare Dates Utah Residents Should Know

• Initial Enrollment Period: seven months around your 65th birthday, starting three months before your birthday month.
• Annual Enrollment Period: October 15 to December 7 each year. Anyone on Medicare can change Medicare Advantage or Part D coverage for the following year.
• Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment: January 1 to March 31, for people already in a Medicare Advantage plan who want to make one change.
• Special Enrollment Periods: certain life events, such as moving out of your plan's service area or losing other coverage, can open a window outside these dates.

If you are turning 65, or you are retiring from an employer plan, the months before the change are the easiest time to sort things out.
